Half-Day Workshop: A Framework for How to Engage Faculty in Higher Education

SUMMARY: This half-day online workshop is designed for leaders in higher education (particularly deans and associate deans, department chairs, and program directors) who are interested in exploring approaches to improve the level and type of engagement by faculty—particularly faculty who are under-engaging (not doing their share) and faculty who are engaging counterproductively (causing problems). Drawing on my work as a leader and a consultant in colleges and universities across the country, I will present a framework of five broad approaches, each illustrated with numerous examples as well as with questions for leaders to consider as they build their individual, collective, and institutional capacities for this work. Many examples will come from my work with schools and colleges of education, but the approaches will be applicable to a variety of educational institutions, and although the workshop is designed for educational leaders, registration is open to all who are interested. During the workshop, participants will have time to work in groups to dive more deeply into the approaches, consider what they might mean for their respective contexts, and develop and get feedback on an action plan. This workshop will not be recorded.

$349     Group-Rate Registration: To increase the capacity of participants when they return to their institutions after the Workshop, institutions are strongly encouraged to send teams of two or more. Institutions that send two or more participants are eligible to receive this discounted rate ($349 per person). Institutions sending teams of 6 or more may inquire about even lower group rates.

$299     Discounted Registration: This rate entails the same workshop experience but at a lower cost, and may be selected by anyone with limited financial resources.

PAYMENTS: All payments must be submitted at the time of registration, and are non-refundable. Participants may arrive late or leave early, which does not change the registration fees.
